I was drawn to these pieces because of their soft pastel hue and Art Deco lines. A little research revealed my thrift shop find has a fascinating history! Abingdon Sanitary Company produced plumbing fixtures. The economy went down the toilet after the stock market crashed in 1929 and the construction sector came to a standstill. The company changes its business strategy and began to produce decorative pottery, which helped it survive the Great Depression. Here’s some lessons we can all learn from Abingdon:
